An optional package we offer our clients visiting the Nqabara Eco River Lodge is the Estuary Boat package. Clients can explore the channels of the Nqabara and Nqabarana River in search of trophy edible fish. The Nqabarana River, smaller of the two, offers deep channels and mangroves for anglers to catch Kob, Grunter, Trevally, and Garrick. The Nqabara River can be navigated further upstream in search of similar species including the River Snapper and Springer.
This package is suitable when conditions are unfavourable on the surf and for anglers wanting to target these fish on lures. We offer half day (4hr) and full day (8hr) packages on the water, in search of the majestic beasts.

The Nqabara and Nqabarana Rivers are productive all year round.
The Nqabara Eco River Lodge has one of the most unique ecosystems in South Africa, allowing anglers the choice of fishing both the surf and two rivers (The Nqabara and Nqabarana River). There is approximately 20km of unexplored fishing water. This specific area is a remote paradise with some of the best edible fishing South Africa has to offer.
The Nqabara coastline has a mixture of clean open beaches, rocky reefs, and ledges with deep drop-offs creating perfect habitats for reef species to thrive. This coast is truly a hidden gem filled with endless possibilities.
The area is classified as “environmentally sensitive”, with the community being determined to preserve its beauty and natural heritage. To safeguard the area’s rich biodiversity of aquatic life, the lodge encourages ‘catch and release’ practices as well as enforces “no take zones”. Anglers are allowed to keep fish in specific areas but can only be consumed on the lodge’s premises.
Apart from fishing, guests can enjoy several other activities including sightseeing, bird-watching, whale-watching, kayaking, and hiking.
